Honka Kanto’s name comes from the Finnish word fora tree stump. Much like its namesake, the house features a sleek and level design firmly rooted in its surroundings. In Finnish, the word manto refers to the living part of a tree through which water and nutrients are transported all the way from the roots to the treetop. Honka houses are built from certified Finnish pine and spruce, which are particularly dense species of coniferous wood. The timber we use is solid wood with an exceptional load-bearing capacity and little-to-no cracking.
